  • Can I use my own lock?

    Yes, you can bring in your own lock to use with your storage unit.

  • Do you have trolleys or forklifts available?

    Yes! Trolleys are available for all customers to use, along with a pump truck for pallets. Plus, a forklift is available to take deliveries as well.

  • What are your opening hours?

    Our opening times are 08.00am to 17.00pm on weekdays and 08.00am to 12.30pm on a Saturday. However, customers can access their storage unit 24/7, 365 days a year!

  • Can I allow other people access my unit?

    Yes, absolutely! You can provide access to other people; however, you take the responsibility of providing them your access code and padlock key. Without these two to hand, we will deny access to anyone attempting to gain access your unit.

  • What business can operate from self-storage?

    Choosing to base your business from a storage unit allows you to be flexible: you can increase or decrease the size of your unit so that you’ll only pay for what you need. Our ground floor level is entirely dedicated to our business customers, our Business Lounge offers you the chance to work, rest and store all in one place here in the Vale.   • Is there different insurance for Business Customers?

    No, all Insurance Cover is available under the same policy.

  • Can you use a storage unit as an office?

    As a business customer with Masons Self Storage, you can work, rest and store all in one area that has been specially tailored to your needs. The ground floor of our brand-new state-of-the-art facility is entirely dedicated to business customers and their needs with wider corridors to accommodate for larger deliveries such as palleted stock or tradesmen storing rolls of carpet and tools. 
    In addition, take advantage of our Business Lounge, a flexible working area where you connect to our free high-speed Wi-Fi, utilise charging stations, work remotely and enjoy a range of refreshments from a tea and coffee station as well as a vending machine.

  • Can you use self-storage as a workshop?

    Absolutely! Whether you’re an inspiring artist or just need a space to work on your business strategy, you can utilise your storage unit in a variety of ways! However, our storage units do not have access to electricity as it is a health and safety risk.

  • How to pack a self-storage unit?

    Whilst packing your self-storage unit, remember that the ultimate goal is to maximise the space in your self-storage unit, whilst keeping everything accessible in case you need it – as well as ensuring that your valuable items are safe.   • Who uses storage units?

  • How much does self-storage cost?

    The cost of self-storage depends on the size of the storage unit that you require and the length of your stay. All prices given are for a monthly period plus VAT and is payable in advance.

  • What are self-storage units?

    Self-storage units are rental spaces that come in a variety of sizes, from 12sqft to over 300sqf, that individuals and businesses can use to store their belongings over extended periods of time.

  • How does self-storage work?

    When renting a storage unit for the first time, there’s a lot to consider! However, Masons Self Storage are here to make the process simple and convenient!   • What can you do in a storage unit?

    It’s impressive what you can do with a storage space when you add a little creativity into the mix!   • What is mobile self-storage?

    Our Mobile Storage service brings self-storage direct to your door in the shape of our Trailer Pick-Up Service. This unique, hassle-free service allows you all of the benefits of self-storage without the bother of hiring a van and driving your belongings to our storage facility!   • What is minimum rental period?

    The minimum rental period is 1 month, with 14 days’ notice to cancel.

  • How large of a storage unit do I need?

    If you are not sure how much space you need, use our handy storage calculator to help you work out what size storage unit you will need. Our storage calculator includes a huge catalogue of household items for you to choose from!

  • Do I need my own padlock?

    When taking a storage unit, you will need to source your own padlock – we have them available in the packaging shop on-site and can arrange this with you upon signing up.

  • Do you have a full price list of your rooms?

    We do not have a price list, but our friendly team can provide you with a quote for any size room ranging from 12sqft to over 300sqft.

  • Do I have to pay a deposit?

    Yes. Before storing with us, all customers are required to pay a refundable deposit. The amount is equal to your first monthly storage period plus VAT.
    The deposit is fully refundable provided there is no damage to the storage unit after you have moved out and all storage rent has been paid.

  • What items can’t be stored?

    For the safety of you and your neighbours not everything can be stored. For example:

    Flammable or explosive items – This includes ammunitions, fireworks, gas, kerosene and lighter fluids.
    Toxic items or chemicals – Any substance which may be harmful to the environment or hazardous to anyone’s health.
    Firearms and weapons – Anything primarily used as a weapon.
    Anything that is or was alive – This includes insects, animals, humans, bacterial cultures etc.
    Anything illegal – This includes drugs, stolen properties and anything considered illegal
    Food

  • Do self-storage units have electric outlets?

    No, electricity isn’t available in our self-storage units due to the fire hazard.

  • Why do people use self-storage?

    There are so many benefits to using self-storage, whether you’re downsizing your home, moving, decluttering, going through a major life event, or simply need a little more space at home, self-storage is a simple solution when you need additional space for your belongings. 
    Or perhaps, maybe you’re a business owner with lots of additional stock that is starting to take up too much space at home or a tradesman with dangerous tools that you want to keep safe and locked away! 
    Our self-storage facility is accessible 24/7, 365 days a year, so whatever your reason for needing some extra space, you can be sure that you always have access to your belongings.

  • Do I have to take out Masons Self Storage insurance?

    We highly recommend that you do, however, you also have an option to take out your own insurance. It is important that the policy covers goods that are being placed in self-storage. You will need to check the terms of your insurance as not all household insurances cover you whilst your belongings are in a self-storage facility.

  • How much is self-storage insurance?

    Your Insurance Cover will depend on the cost of the full replacement value of your goods as of today’s prices as being brand new. Our Insurance premiums start from £1.12 per £1,000 value per month including IPT (Insurance Premium Tax) at 10.5%.

  • What does my insurance cover?

    Masons Self Storage insurance covers you for theft, fire or flood damage.

  • Is insurance required for self-storage?

    We highly recommend all customers either take out our Insurance Cover or provide proof of Insurance Cover for their own goods before they store with us. If using your own Insurance Provider, you will need to instruct them to amend your policy to include the name and address of Masons Self Storage.

  • Are self-storage units insured?

    No, all customers must either take out our Insurance Cover or provide proof of their own Insurance cover.

  • How quickly can I move in?

    Almost immediately! We can get customers set-up instantly, you can turn up with your van/items to be stored and we can then have you set-up within 20 minutes of arriving, checking the size and signing the paperwork!

  • What Identity documents do I need to provide?

    We will require an official document with your photograph, such as a driving licence or passport as proof of identification. Business customers such as Director or Managers will be requested to provide proof of position with a business card or a letter from Companies House. For business customers who are neither of the above, you will be requested to provide a letter from the business confirming that you have authority to sign a licence agreement on behalf of the company.

  • Can I change my move in date after reservation?

    Absolutely, our reservation process will hold a storage unit for you for up to 4 weeks providing you pay us the deposit to hold the room. Just contact us to let us know if there’s any changes to the potential move in date.

  • Do I have to be present on moving in day?

    Yes, on move-in day, you will meet with our team to go through the paperwork, sign your contract and provide photo ID. However, let our team know if you’re not able to be present and we can organise for a convenient time to sign your contract and provide ID!

  • Do you help people move in?

    Yes. We operate a mobile self-storage service for the self-mover that cuts out you having to hire a van to bring your belongings into our storage facility. We deliver a trailer that is left at your property for you to fill. When you have filled the trailer, you contact us and we come and collect and return to our stores. You follow us to store and then put the items into the storage room. The process is reversed when you want your goods returned or delivered to a new address.   • Can I store a motorcycle in self-storage?

    We have dedicated motorbike storage containers which are located outside of the building’s storage, which has 24/7 access for you to access and take your bike out when needed!

  • Can you store a car in a self-storage unit?

    We can store a car in our 20ft shipping containers, as they are external to the building storage. However, we can’t accept any vehicles inside the actual storage building

  • Where can I buy packing supplies near me?

    We have an in-store shop on the premises that sells high quality packaging boxes, bubble, tape and more at extremely competitive prices. Packaging supplies can be viewed on our website and seen on display in our Packaging Shop onsite. These packaging supplies are the same our sister company, Masons Removals Cardiff, uses for all of their home moves, so you can be sure of the quality!

  • Do you offer delivery service?

    Masons Self Storage will personally deliver orders of above £30 FREE of charge, within a 5-mile radius of the Masons Self Storage centre. Delivery of orders under £30 will incur a £5 delivery charge, within a 5-mile radius of the Masons Self Storage centre. For more information, take a look at our delivery information here.

  • How do I order packing supplies?

    Our high-quality packaging supplies are available in our onsite store as well as on our website in our Packaging Shop. If you live within 5 miles of Masons Self Storage, we can deliver your packaging supplies on all orders over £30, on orders under £30, there will be a £5 delivery charge.   • Do you accept returns?

    We do accept returns, you just need to let us know that you are expecting an item to arrive on site for you.

  • Are storage units safe?

    They’re incredibly safe! Masons Self Storage facility has a state-of-the-art security system! Access to Masons Self Storage outside of office hours requires a PIN code. All storage units are individually alarmed, which means when a door isn’t de-activated it sends a call to our monitoring team who will then call us to check out the disturbance. We do this then by remote accessing our 120 + cameras on our mobile phones. The buildings are secured with automatic gates and are closed overnight.

  • What to do if I lose access to my storage unit?

    If you lose access to your storage unit, you will be required to visit our team onsite so that we can run through the safety checks and to check your photo ID on file. Once this is done, we can then issue you a new code and remove the padlock for you to gain access.

  • Do storage units have cameras?

    There aren’t security cameras in each individual storage unit, however we do have around 120+ cameras across the whole Masons Self Storage site and car park.
