South Wales Self Storage Soars Into The 21st Century

2016 has proven itself to be a big year for Masons Self Storage; we’re celebrating 25 years since opening one of Wales’s first ever Self Storage facilities, in addition, this year also seemed like the perfect time to investigate our processes and our space to better assess how we can improve our customer’s experience.

Early last year, one of our Senior Directors, Gordon Mason, undertook in-depth analysis into our whole group, looking at what is beneficial to our customers and what needs to be developed and said “If we were going to make a positive difference and keep moving forward, we needed to push the boundaries to meet our customer’s needs, we need to work smarter, differently and embrace the advances in new digital technology to answer the changing needs of our customers”.

A year into our extensive project, we have worked with some of the best suppliers in the local community, wider Wales and in Europe,  in order to achieve the modern and secure, 24/7 facility that Masons needed to continue to be competitive and innovative with in the sector. For us, working with the best companies was important because we wanted partners that we can build and develop a relationship with for life and we’re thrilled with the work we’ve had done so far.

We wanted a state of the art building that provides a safe space for our customers belongings that was accessible whenever when they needed to access it 24/7, 365 days a year. Our brand new facility has been fitted with sophisticated levels of security with the whole facility being alarmed complete with 24 hour CCTV supplied by Cardiff contractors Concept  Fire & Security. To add a greater variety of storage units, Kuboid Ltd, from Wellingborough, were taken on to undertake the refit and have developed a wider range of different sized storage units which we offer with flexible time frames. Lodige Industries offer customized turnkey lift solutions at attractive prices which makes it even easier for customers to move from their van to their storage unit seamlessly. Thanks to their flexibility, the systems can be installed in many different types of buildings to facilitate in-house transport. Customers now can simply slide their belongings into the ESCORTA lift, step in and ride up to their storage room floor. For smoother access, bespoke sliding doors were fitted by Window Solutions Ltd and the automatic gearing by Prosale Ltd, creating a streamlined process from start to finish at Masons. In order to make sure our facility was easy to navigate, local firm ABC designs  pulled out all the stops to ensure that signage made the customer journey within the centre even easier.

In addition, whilst we wanted to re-evaluate our facility and develop a modern and secure centre which is years ahead of our competitors, we also wanted to modernize how we operate behind the scenes.  Radical Technology were brought in to supply the new management system that provides us the flexibility we need to not only to manage the 200+ rooms and mobile options that are on-site but also provide an effective Customer Relationship Management system, looking at the way we communicate with our customers.

We also took on Sarah Mason, a Digital Marketing Specialist, to give us an online presence and help bring us into the 21st Century. She worked with UK based web agency Illustratemedia who continue to support her for all of website projects.

On Friday 10th June Welsh National Assembly Member, Jane Hutt, will be officially opening our brand new state of the art, 24/7 storage centre. The new and efficient space is the result of a major investment project that will continue to put our customers’ needs at the heart of the business as well as bringing  more jobs to the Vale, so why don’t you come and take a look?
