5 Home Renovation Projects for this Summer!

Posted on: Wed Jul 15

We’ve all been at home for something like 20 (million) weeks now and it can’t only be us that has started to go a bit stir-crazy thinking about the little things in our house that we’d change or improve?

So, if you’ve already Marie Kondo’d your entire house, why not use the summer to tackle some small and easy DIY projects to improve your home? Small improvements can really make a big impact, especially if you’re looking to sell your home soon. If you are thinking of selling your home, take a look at our blog on preparing to move home here.

Before you start ripping up the floors and re-wiring your house, make sure you know your limits. Some jobs should always be left to the professionals!

Painting - Easy DIY projects

Refresh the walls

One of the easiest (and cost-effective) ways to transform any room is a lick of paint! In just a few hours, a new coat of paint can make a tired room look refreshed; plus, changing the colour can create a whole new look and breathe life into the room.

Get a handle on it

Many estate agents agree that the two most instrumental rooms for selling a property are the kitchen and bathroom. If you don’t have the budget for a whole new refit or you’re just looking to give the room a little lift, why not upgrade your cupboard and drawer handles? You can transform your kitchen, just by choosing some new stylish handles.

Up your kerb appeal

Is your front garden or pathway looking a little tired? A little tidy up in your front garden, with some pot plants, new fencing or a new coat of paint on your front gate or front door can really up your kerb appeal!

Upcycle

Is your furniture looking a little drab? Give it a new lease of life with some furniture paint! Homeware stores like Wilko and B&Q sell furniture paint in a whole range of colours. It’s a very cost-effective way to lift a room or even create a statement piece!

A perfect finish

Whilst tiling should be left to a professional or a confident DIY-er, you can really lift your tiled areas with some fresh grouting or new sealant. You could even give the room a whole new look by choosing a new colour for the grouting!

If you’re not ready to tackle any DIY, but you’d like to make some changes at home, why not take a look at our top tips for decluttering FAST, as seen in the Penarth View? You could get the whole family involved!
