Masons’ Top Tips for Preparing to Move Home in Lockdown!

Organising a house move is already one of life’s biggest challenges, a global pandemic is sure to make it an even more difficult task to navigate! Here at Masons Self Storage, we know that it’s affecting our customers home moves and we’re seeing lots of customers turning to us as interim storage whilst they wait to re-start the process of moving home. 

We recently spoke to TwentyCi, specialists in the property industry, who gave us some amazing insights into the property market right now, including some reassuring statistics that look like both the rental and selling markets aren’t too far behind what they were last year. 

Whether you’re renting your home or you’re getting ready to sell your property and move on, we know what a stressful process this all can be. Start your house hunting from home 

TwentyCi told us that Estate Agents are still marketing properties and offering virtual tours to viewers to try and keep everything flowing. Window shop to your hearts content, but we’d recommend waiting to see a property before you agree to rent or buy it!

Get your paperwork in order

If you’re applying for a mortgage, often you’ll need at least three months’ worth of bank statements and payslips, plus your name on at least one utility bill at your current address, as well as being named on the Electoral Roll. Lockdown is the perfect time to ensure that everything is as it should be. According to the 2019 Annual HomeOwners Survey, more than 68% of homeowners say kerb appeal was important when choosing their new home. The most important factors were: windows being in good condition, a well-maintained roof and a tidy front garden and driveway/path. Although make sure you’re not too enthusiastic with any power tools, we all need to stay safe right now!
